Journal The Word Bible Review {BookLook}

Hi Friends!!

Over next few weeks, we will be playing “catch up” – as we grow together through 1-2 Timothy. It is mind blowing that we are half way through our life giving Press On Toward Faithfulness Bible Study! I am learning soo much as I sit and study the Word of God. Be sure to keep an eye out for new posts, regarding our study.

Now, for today’s review!

Let’s Get Started

Initially, I was surprised by the Bible journal. I didn’t know what to expect, because I have never owned or seen a journal styled Bible in person.

The Highlights –

  • Its Cover: The cover alone will be very inviting to women young and old.
  • Each page offers a journal space to jot down notes.
  • There are over 450 journal prompts! Imagine the transformation the Holy Spirit can do, as our teenage girls make their aim to fully use this Bible – prompts included.

Why I Recommend –

I highly recommend this Bible for teen girls! It would be perfect for them, and draw them nearer to the Lord – as they read, take note of writing prompts, and respond through their Bible reading time.

This Bible may be limited in “features,” but would make for a wonderful tool in drawing near to the Lord!

My Testimony –

Even now as I think about these things, I am reminded of my favorite Bible – which has no “extra” features. I absolutely love the Bible, but this copy in particular is extremely meaningful to me. It has all of many notes. I absolutely love that Bible, because of the memories. This “Journal Through The Word” Bible is an opportunity to make those kind of memories with the Lord! The joy infused moments with the Lord, that make us want to keep reading and studying our Bible.

In Closing –

This Bible would be a great fit for teenage girls. It isn’t too bulky, and is beautiful from the inside – out. One of the best benefits of this Bible is its ability to lay flat. You never have to worry about losing your spot, because of the way this Bible has been designed.

I think it is a very nice Bible and the Lord will use it to draw others nearer to Him. He will use the journal prompts to encourage His daughters to keep reading and writing through what they read.

NIV Color Code Bible {BookLook}

If you are looking for a new Bible, I have one to share with you all. If I was searching for a new Bible, this is the one I would want. As a highlighting girl, this Bible is perfect!

The NIV Color Code Bible is designed to be a children’s Bible, but would be extremely beneficial for anyone.

Honestly, this is probably my favorite Bible {excluding my personal, well highlighted, Bible}.

I seriously love this Bible. I am so glad to have this opportunity to share it with you. I know, there are many choices when considering a particular Bible for our personal study. Add this one to your list!

The Introductions:

Well over 50 pages are devoted to introducing us to the Bible! In these pages, we are given a well informed introduction as we learn many things. It is such a rarity to have a deliberate introduction like this, about the things that truly matter. Making this Bible the best choice.

The Highlights:

This gorgeous Bible has 3,000 passages highlighted to show us important Scriptures. Colorful highlights. Each fitting into 10 different categories. Not only does it highlight Scripture, we are given an “easy-to-understand” teaching on each category – which equips us with the truth.  As we search the Scriptures on God, New Life, or other areas, we are taught and led closer to our Lord Jesus.

While designed for children, this Bible with its added features would be extremely valuable to anyone who is seeking the Lord through His Word – the Bible.

The Teachings:

In the introduction, we are met with Bible teachings in an easy-to-understand format. We are taught things like –

  • What is the Bible?
  • Who wrote the Bible?
  • Why we should read the Bible?

“God wants you to know Him. He made you and He loves you more than you can imagine. . . (p. 21).”

Designed to Help Us Draw Near

The features are just amazing, my friends. I am excited about this Bible and how it can lead others into the Word of God. The highlights are intriguing, especially to someone like me who loves to highlight. My mom loves this Bible too. We actually decided to share it.

31 Proverbs to Light Your Path {Blogging-For-Books}

31 ProverbsIt’s no secret that Liz Curtis Higgs is one of my favorite Bible study teachers. I have reviewed several of her books, including her last devotional – which is much like this one.

Today, I am here today to joyfully share with you her new book. 31 Proverbs to Light Your Path is a devotional that meets us where we are, and walks us through specific proverbs found in the Bible.. The Lord has much to share with us, as we draw near.

We are invited into beautiful conversations about God’s life altering truths and their power. While we are met with God’s truth and learn what it looks like to apply them in our lives, we are given a special section at the end of each devotion – that might make the most difference in applying the devotional truths immediately.

In “One Minute, One Step,” we are urged to take the time to remember these special God-given truths and consider what it means for our own lives. It is by God’s absolute grace that we can hear His truths and allow the Lord to change our lives through them.

There are 31 Proverbs placed in this book that can radically change our lives. And, friend? It is simply the beginning. Jesus has so much He wants to share us, as we sit here in community with Him and each other. Let’s seek out our sweet Lord and take this gift we have been given.

My Story –

One night a few weeks ago, I found myself awake in an insomnia moment. After realizing “Okay, I am not getting to sleep,” I finally got up and grabbed my reviewer’s copy of this God initiated book and just kept reading.

I couldn’t stop, and truthfully I didn’t want to. The more I read, the more the Lord spoke to me – filling my soul with His truth!

As I continued to read, the sweetness of the Lord and His comfort washed over me. I just sat and continued reading as one day turned into seven days, and so on. That night, I made many notes, highlights, and even followed up on a specific urging the Lord placed on my spirit.

Friends, the Lord can use this book to speak to us. As we are being changed by the truths and our relationship with our great God through His Son Jesus Christ, He will change others. Our job is simply to be obedient.

For a long time, it was hard for me to read the Proverbs – because there are many transformative truths (“How do I remember them all?”). All we have to do is begin with one proverb, and start there.

Let’s allow Liz Curtis Higgs, to be our friend who shows us how the Lord is helping her apply His truths.

God can definitely use this devotional to speak to His people. Friends, let’s meet up, share our brokenness, and open up our hearts to His truth. The Lord will meet us wherever we are.

Kids’ Visual Study Bible (BookLook)

Visual BibleMy friends, the greatest gift we can give to our kids is – the Word of God.

As we sit and share our hearts for Jesus, we are giving them a special gift. Let’s present Jesus to them through our words and a Bible of their very own. Something that will help them learn about our great God and His love for them.

The Treasure –

The NIV Kids’ Visual Study Bible: Explore the Story of the Bible—People, Places, and History is an amazing Bible. One of my favorite aspect of this Bible is – the fact that it is a study Bible. In the margins, we can find insight we might otherwise miss. Plus: This Bible is colorful; this is where we find beautiful photographs woven into the Bible – which reminds us of God’s handiwork. There are over 700 photographs in this special Bible!

This is a special gift, which will allow our children to open the wonder of God’s Word – and discover who He is – for themselves. The goal of this Bible is to present our Lord Jesus Christ and His truths to the children in our lives.

My Concluding Thoughts –

I absolutely love this Bible. I am looking forward to reading it with my niece, but also to have for myself. The study notes, in particular, are a needed thing, because sometimes we just need a little (or a lot) of help learning to understand what God is teaching us through His Word – the Bible. God will definitely use this Bible to encourage many, to keep drawing near to Him.

Friends, I am excited about the possibilities. This Bible with added features can help our children become closer to the Lord. I am thankful for this Bible and the opportunity to review it. I am so excited to see how the NIV Kids’ Visual Study Bible will encourage my niece in her own relationship with the Lord.

Zip It (Karen Ehman)

Zip ItKaren Ehman is a woman with a gift for writing and sharing the Bible with her readers. She recently came out with a new book. The book, Zip It, is a follow-up to Karen Ehman’s Keep It Shut book.

An eight week Bible study, Zip It is designed to teach us how we can most honor God with our words. We all know the consequential emotions we feel, when others have said certain words to us. However we can choose to build up our relationships with our words, and learn to forgive.

Ehman helps us to focus on how we can turn to God and actually give Him our words. This is a study that will impact lives, for the better.

This is a forty day challenge, where we can filter our relationships with different, better, words.

“Zip It” is definitely a book God will use to bring about His transformative work in the lives of His sons and daughters – as we listen for His voice and follow His leading.

My Response –

I can honestly say, I loved Zip It immediately! I just fell in love with this book, because of the way Ehman writes, teaches the Word of God, and discusses the effect words has on relationships. It was (and is) a topic that is close to my heart.

In this book we are taught directly from God’s Word and are given the opportunity to see the work of God in our lives – as we give Him our words over this forty day period.

I believe God will greatly use this book in mine and others’ lives, as we walk through this forty day challenge – for we are being drawn to Jesus and growing in trusting Him with our words and relationships.

I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who wants to hear the Bible and see God transform their verbal and written speech. Click here to buy your copy of Zip It today! (For under $10 on Amazon)

Bonus: Karen Ehman just finished leading a study on this wonderful 40 day challenge. Click here to visit its Facebook page.
