Our Reading Plan {{POTF}}

Welcome, friends!! I am glad to have you here, whether you are a regular reader or brand new. Welcome!

Our Bible study officially starts on Monday. I am excited for our study time together. I hope you are finding your own excitement for this study and all that the Lord has in store for each of us.

This is going to be an amazing time of worship and community. Let’s come willingly, and enjoy this time of growing – together!

Blog Bible Study Tools –

While there is an eight week journal we can use (for this or any other study), the most important tool needed is our reading plan. Having this reading plan operates as our guide for this study. It shows us what Scriptures we will be reading through each day in an easy to navigate format. Our reading schedule helps us walk through the books of Titus and 1-2 Timothy in just eight weeks!

Quality Time, Needed Time –

Friends, let’s prepare our hearts for this beautiful time of worship! Through the course of our study, we are getting to do something life impacting. We are given the amazing privilege to spend quality time with our Creator. The One who knows us completely, and wants to be with us.

As we give ourselves to the Lord and draw near, He will meet us here and bless this time!

Why I Study?!

I am so excited to see how the Lord will use this time. In each of these studies, the Lord has faithfully “shown up” in my life. They have been so memorable to me, because of their effect on my relationship with the Lord. This is why I find myself continuing to go back to our Ephesians journal and even the Matthew 4-7 journal. Each holds a special place in my relationship with the Lord, and reminds me of how the Lord has spoke to me in the past.

Two things are always evident during my involvement in these studies:

  1. Quality time with the Lord – I know that I am more connected to the Lord during these special times. As I keep my commitment to go through a particular study, I am more focused on the Lord and linger in His presence (see John 15:5, Joshua 1:8-9).
  2. Joy – This is a byproduct of being with our Lord Jesus. I have more joy and feel whole. I don’t feel empty or like I am missing something somehow. This is the time, where I am doing exactly what I should be doing. . . drawing nearer to the Lord (see Psalm 16:11, 23:1; Colossians 2:6-7).

Teach Us, Lord

The Lord continues to work in and change me, as I give myself to these studies. These Bible studies are needed on many levels, including my relationship with God through Jesus Christ – our Mighty Savior.

We can trust that God will work in us through this study. Friends, let’s prepare our hearts for what the Lord is going to teach us.

Lord, help us to remain willing during this sacred time! Move in our hearts and help us to draw nearer to You. Thank you for this time. Speak boldly, Lord. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Memorable Posts of 2017

As we prepare the new year and the many possibilities awaiting us, I invite us to reexplore five handpicked articles from Gracefully Overcoming.

  1. The Most Humbling Worship Offering {Romans 12:1}
  2. The Shepherd Who Protects {From “Summer Psalms ’17” series}
  3. Finding Captivating Love
  4. Alone with God {From our “Meeting the Thessalonians” Study}
  5. Learning About His Love {From our “Meeting the Thessalonians” Study}

While I excluded the “Inspiring Women” post, every one of those posts seemed memorable or life impacting (at the very least). Each delivered some home hitting message, that influenced me as I poured out my soul in words. Here are just three from that meaningful series.

  1. Praise Before Panic
  2. Strength in the Fight {My Testimony}
  3. That One Compliment

There are soo many things that we can learn from. In 2018, my hope is for us to become more of a heartfelt community of Jesus followers and lovers.

My hope is. . .

to share more genuine words – helping us to draw near to the Lord and keep picking up our Bibles, but to weigh my words (Prov. 15:28) as well.

Don’t forget to pick up your eight week journal for our newest study! {It’s only $6.25 on Amazon} Starting January 15th, we will be studying the Timothys and Titus – using a brand new journal for our time together. Every ounce of support we receive, helps keep this blog running. And, we are so thankful for you all!

New Study + Eight Week Journal

Hi friends!

I am soo excited to be back and ready to kick off our first Bible study of the year. We will be studying the books of Timothy and Titus in an eight week format. For this study, I am trying a new approach.

We will use a eight week journal I have designed. I hope you all enjoy this journal and its lower price. In effort to keep my blog’s domain, I have made this journal available to all over on Amazon and many other shopping websites for all your book needs.

Excluding helping out Gracefully Overcoming itself, this journal is a wise choice for our quiet time – because of its amazing features! It has a section to jot down our weekly memory verse, prayer requests we may have, Scripture writing, and then the specified journal and prayer sections. Even includes a weekly reflection! =]

While Christmas leaves many of us with a limited budget, this journal is only $6.25! And it gives you 56 daily entries (8 full weeks) to keep you writing, as you meet with God, worship, pray out, and study His Word.

Won’t you consider supporting Gracefully Overcoming, while purchasing a copy of the eight week journal? Our new study is set to begin January 15th – in effort to give everyone adequate time to prepare for our study.

I am excited to be with you all again, and to begin our eight week Bible study! While our study doesn’t officially begin until the 15th, my study will likely begin very soon – so I can make sure to stay on top of things. In the meantime, I will work on a {more} clever title for our study, other than “that eight week study”.

While we only have one design for our eight week journal, my hope is to include a few more designs over time. Bear with me: My laptop is headed for the shop tomorrow.

The Sanctification Process

Ohhh my friends, I have missed you all so much!!! While I am still on my break, or Sabbath if you will, I wanted to just take a few moments to write you all.

This time away is needed, yet difficult. While difficult, this is the season of life where I will reap the greatest of spiritual blessings.

It is a time of deepening the relationship I have with my heavenly Father through His Son Jesus Christ – my Savior – the One who rescues me and keeps me safe regardless of my outward circumstances.

My Own Testimony

Today, I have been thinking on a transformative piece of Scripture from the book of Titus. I wanted to share just a bit of that with you all.

Once we, too, were foolish and disobedient; we were misled by others and became slaves to many evil pleasures and wicked desires. Our lives were full of resentment and envy. We hated others and they hated us.

But when the time came for the kindness and love of God our Savior to appear, then he saved us—not because we were good enough to be saved but because of his kindness and pity—by washing away our sins and giving us the new joy of the indwelling Holy Spirit. . .

In this passage, I am reminded of the amazing change I am given through our Rescuer Jesus the Christ. The Lord has taken me so far from the person I used to be. It has been a long journey. But, it is one declaring His glory, goodness, and power.

As I think back over my life, I can honestly say I was the “Poster Girl” for Titus 3:3b – where it says:

“We lived in malice and envy, being hated and hating one another.”

I don’t know the specifics of how the Lord did it, but I do know He absolutely did a mighty work – taking me from this person with much hate and anger

. . . to someone who is learning she has been handpicked and profoundly loved by the God of the universe. Which changes everything for my life.

Solely God’s Work

As I continue to walk with my Jesus – with our Savior Jesus, I am able to surrender more and more of me to my gracious Father so my soul has room for the eternally good gifts of God!

This is God’s work, and nothing we can claim as our own. He is working out everything for His ultimate good – and showing me the abundant life He wants to give His people. And it all starts with drawing near to our King Jesus Christ!

He is very generous and able to transform our entire lives – as we make the choice to follow Jesus for ourselves and see what He has in store for our lives. He has a beautiful life in store for us, but the key is willfully seeking to know Jesus Christ for ourselves.

Blog Sabbath-ing

Stay joined to me, and I will stay joined to you. Just as a branch cannot produce fruit unless it stays joined to the vine, you cannot produce fruit unless you stay joined to me (John 15:4).

And as I think on these truths, this time of Sabbath makes the most sense. This is a season of deepening the relationship I have with God through His Son Jesus Christ. This is a season of meeting and walking with Jesus for myself. This is a season of being sanctified and even “pruned” for His glory.

God is doing so much in this season of my life. While the time away is difficult, it has eternal purposes. I just need to keep remembering the undeniable sacredness of this time with Jesus.

If lacking in the blogging department means a more intimate relationship with Jesus without distractions, then, it is forever worth it. As I focus on intimacy with Christ, I am being amazingly changed!

The difficulties of taking this time away, are eased by knowing the good eternal work our Lord Jesus is doing inside of me. As I learn to enjoy this time, He is preparing me for whatever the future has in store.

Sabbatical 2017 –

Hi friends!

I am currently on a sabbatical from the blogging world for the next few months (well, aside from book reviews). Honestly as resistant as I can be, this season of life is more needed than I could say.

Ways to stay connected, while I am away –

  • Gracefully Overcoming’s Facebook page is going through a study of its own. From now until Christmas, we are studying Psalm 119. Yes, that extremely long Psalm, you might have meant to study at some point.
  • And if that doesn’t grab your attention, Indoor Outreach is going through the book of Luke.

Feel free to pray for me, as I go through this season. I am loving my time away, but miss you all tremendously! Maybe, we can stay semi-connected on Facebook. =)

In Christ,
