NIV Color Code Bible {BookLook}

Standard

If you are looking for a new Bible, I have one to share with you all. If I was searching for a new Bible, this is the one I would want. As a highlighting girl, this Bible is perfect!

The NIV Color Code Bible is designed to be a children’s Bible, but would be extremely beneficial for anyone.

Honestly, this is probably my favorite Bible {excluding my personal, well highlighted, Bible}.

I seriously love this Bible. I am so glad to have this opportunity to share it with you. I know, there are many choices when considering a particular Bible for our personal study. Add this one to your list!

The Introductions:

Well over 50 pages are devoted to introducing us to the Bible! In these pages, we are given a well informed introduction as we learn many things. It is such a rarity to have a deliberate introduction like this, about the things that truly matter. Making this Bible the best choice.

The Highlights:

This gorgeous Bible has 3,000 passages highlighted to show us important Scriptures. Colorful highlights. Each fitting into 10 different categories. Not only does it highlight Scripture, we are given an “easy-to-understand” teaching on each category – which equips us with the truth.  As we search the Scriptures on God, New Life, or other areas, we are taught and led closer to our Lord Jesus.

While designed for children, this Bible with its added features would be extremely valuable to anyone who is seeking the Lord through His Word – the Bible.

The Teachings:

In the introduction, we are met with Bible teachings in an easy-to-understand format. We are taught things like –

  • What is the Bible?
  • Who wrote the Bible?
  • Why we should read the Bible?

“God wants you to know Him. He made you and He loves you more than you can imagine. . . (p. 21).”

Designed to Help Us Draw Near

The features are just amazing, my friends. I am excited about this Bible and how it can lead others into the Word of God. The highlights are intriguing, especially to someone like me who loves to highlight. My mom loves this Bible too. We actually decided to share it.

In Christ,

Under the Sea Bible (A BookLook Review)

Standard

under the seaWe are truly blessed to live in a land, where having children’s Bibles are so readily available to us! Click here to see other Bible reviews.

The Goal –

Giving our children the Word of God is the best decision we could make, in terms of gift giving. Through the Bible, we are giving our children the opportunity to experience God for themselves – as they get to know God and learn how to have a love relationship with God through His precious Son Jesus Christ.

The Design –

The cover of this Bible is beautiful. It uses a wide range of colors, sparkles, and reveals the sea life. God has made all things – including the beautiful sea creatures. Not only is the Bible beautiful in its initial appearance, it seems as though it would be durable.

The first impression of this Bible is that it will be filled with kid-friendly approaches to getting to know God by reading His Word. I was surprised, by the lack of features involved in this Bible. Because the Bibles today are often comparable to one another, we can make decisions about Bibles like we would about the style of a kitchen appliance. There is not simply one choice.

My Concerns –

  • Not quite designed to reach young children.
  • It does not have a lot of features to help invite our children (especially younger children) into the Word of God. Features are designed to help them travel through the pages of God’s truths. It would seem to be of great importance for a child’s Bible.
  • The print is smaller than preferred – which makes it difficult for some to concentrate and read

This Bible is a good choice. Reading the Bible is always a good choice. Buying our children a Bible is always a great choice. But, how can we make a great choice? Would this be the best Bible for our children? You have to make that choice for yourselves.

My Praises –

  • This Bible uses a translation (NIRV) that is easy to understand.
  • It accomplishes the intended purpose – to teach us who God is, how He loves us, and to know Him and His will.
  • It will help our children enjoy God and His Word, as they take the time to read His Word.

ICB, Princess Bible (A BookLook Review)

Standard

princess bibleOriginally, I requested this particular Bible for my niece. I knew she would love it. I wasn’t expecting to love it as much as I do. I love the helpful tips. I love the translation. I absolutely love the highlights, that help me to grasp the Scriptures – for myself!

The design for this Princess Bible is just – beautiful! The crown really sets the stage, for what the Bible is all about.

As God’s daughters, we truly are princesses who have a King that loves them dearly. This is the message we want to send to our daughters, nieces, and friends. We want to see them touched by the heart of the King.

As with other Bible reviews, I have done. I will highlight certain features in the Princess Bible that I think – help enhance this time spent with the Word of God.

Top Three

So, let’s get started. Here is what my top three features of the Princess Bible include –

The Highlights:

Perhaps the quality I most appreciate as a seasoned Bible reader is the highlights. Throughout the contents of the Bible, there are Scriptures highlighted for our young readers. For example: In Psalm 121, the editors have added a highlight for verses 7-8. This is important for me , because I can have the added help. This is particularly helpful if I were to study the book of Proverbs with my niece, where there are many truths in one small passage. I don’t have to wonder “where do I start?!?”. Because, I have been given help.

The Translation:

It uses the International Children’s Bible.

I love the ease of the translation. It gets directly to the point. If I have trouble understanding what I am reading in my own personal Bible, I know I can have clarity added through the Princess Bible. God has gifted us with a Bible just for kids – and – it will help them understand His Word at their own level (and even help us adults, grow in our understanding of God’s Word).

The Inserts:

There are a variety of colorful inserts in this Bible. These are Bible Study helps that can be utilized by young readers or new believers of any age.

The Questions:

Throughout the Bible, there is a feature where others have answered questions regarding the Bible to help our young readers understand the importance of the Bible for their lives. For example: How Do I Know Jesus Loves Me?

Miracles of Jesus

The one I have to mention, aside from the questions segment, is the “Miracles of Jesus” – which is found at the end of the Bible. This is again very important, because it shows us how the power of God has taken place in the lives of others. As we see how He has changed others’ circumstances (and lives), we can learn that there is hope in the Resurrection Power of Christ.

In Conclusion –

I would recommend this particular Bible to my readers. Truthfully, you cannot beat the price for this Bible. Bibles are expensive, and they shouldn’t be. But, this one is a good Bible filled with God’s beautiful truth, provides some helpful tips, and is very reasonable in price. While the list price is $19.99, Amazon has it for $16.25 at the moment.

FaithGirlz Bible (A BookLook Review)

Standard

Owl CoverThe Faith Girlz Bible is one designed for our daughters and young girls (recommended for ages 9 to 12) we know. I am so privileged to bring to you guys my thoughts on this Bible.

This Bible is just… amazing!

Each Bible is unique, and amazing. But, this one… is designed to help our daughters, nieces, etc, to know God and take His Word – applying it to their lives!

This is the kind of Bible I wish I had when I was younger. It might have helped me to have the sense – to read it much more than I did.

Its outer appearance is just… gorgeous! It is a printed owl with a magnetic closure (coolest thing, ever?!?). It is hip enough to such an extent, that your daughters would want to carry this thing around and read it daily.

Not only is its outer appearance beautiful, the pages are too! The pages are filled with the Word of God in purple, while the features are printed in pink. Pink and purple. A definite girl’s girl – kind of Bible!

The Features

This Bible has many feature. Instead of listing each one individually, let me share what I think of the features…

I love the features they are including in this Bible. These are the kind of feature to lead our daughters, nieces, etc, into the Word of God and apply it to their lives in a fun way! As they begin to travel in the Word of God, these features will grab their attention, take them to another section of Scripture, and most importantly help them to know Him (through His Word) on a personal level.

In Closing

This Bible is designed to help our daughters grow into the young woman God created her to be. It will help them to encounter Scripture, but also guide them into applying it to their daily lives. The features will be a tool used to guide our daughters and nieces into the Scriptures God designed for them to hear.

**Best of all, it would make for a great gift for the young girls in our lives!**

NIV Bible for Women (A BookLook Review)

Standard

niv bible for womenNIV Bible for Women is a Bible designed with the intent of helping women study the Bible and grow in their relationship with God. It is worth selecting, because it is God’s Word. While it does not have many features like other Bibles have (ie. NIV Bible for Teen Girls), it gives us what we need to study the Word of God.

Considering price and quality of the features, I would definitely recommend this Bible to women. Depending on the Bible, most can get very pricey. This one, however, is not. At the moment, it is priced at just above $20 on Amazon.

Translation

This edition of the Bible uses the New International Version. While it may be worded differently than other translations you are used to, it is a great – reliable translation to use in our quiet times and pursuit of going deeper in God’s Word. For more on NIV and translations, click here.

The features for this Bible include –

  • Table of Weights and Measures. This is a helpful feature that can be overlooked at times. It is helpful for helping us understand the Word of God. For example, the ark God led Noah to build was 300 cubics long. Based on this table, we can learn the ark was 25 feet long. (That is a really big ark!)
  • Devotions. There are over 250 devotions found in our Bible. This adds significantly to our Jesus time. We can read these sections alongside our Bible reading time. Or, use these devotions as food for our spirit. When we don’t know what to study, these devotions are perfect for steering us the way we should go.

Each devotion also includes a reflect and prayer section to help us study God’s Word. It doesn’t matter if this is our first Bible and we are completely new to His Word, or if we have been in the Word almost all of our lives. The devotions help us make personal applications and help us gain the wisdom we need to make the choices we need to make in our lives.

  • Myths. In our lives, we will face circumstances where we have to discern a myth from truth. In this Bible, there are 52 myth sections to help readers to understand what God’s Word says on different topics that we, as women, face.
  • Contributor Biographies. This section allows us to meet the women of God who were used in composing the Bible’s devotionals. Unlike other places, there are a variety of women who contributed to this Bible’s format. We aren’t given one or two women’s perspective on the Bible, but numerous women God has uniquely equipped and called for His good work.
  • Topical Index. From Abandonment to Your-life-story, we can find a number of important topics and immediate access to where to turn in our Bibles for God’s help.
  • Notes. This is a feature I haven’t noticed in my personal Bibles, but is of great value. We can write down things in the “Notes” section that might not fit anywhere else. Or, it could be used as a way to track important spiritual dates in your life. For example, the day you were baptized, or when God spoke an important message to you. These nine pages can be well-utilized to help us, in our relationship with God through His Son Jesus.

My Favorite Features

In terms of this Bible, I think the most valuable features for me personally are the devotions and myth sections. They add to the time spent in the Scriptures. They would be of great help to point us to God’s Word, to help us navigate circumstances. Using these features, as well as the others, help us to intentionally seek Christ and His will in each one of our circumstances and decisions.

As I close…

Let’s think about what it would mean for us to join other women of God, and allow them into our lives through relationships – to be drawn deeper into the heart of God.

As you dig deeper into the Word – joined in your journey by other female friends both from the fabric of your life and the pages of this book – the NIV Bible for Women will help you grow into the relational woman God created you to be (NIV Bible for Women).
