Hi friends! For the months of May/June, we will be using a reading plan given to us by Sweet to the Soul Ministries. Feel free to stroll through their Facebook page and blog. They even have a journaling kit and Bible study for this month’s plan.
While we have many Scriptures left until we are finished with this series, we will be skipping around a bit and looking at hospitality. Our definition for hospitality is – “being friendly, cordial, and gracious, sharing the comforts of your home and doing your part generously (AMP).”
Don’t forget to be kind to strangers, for some who have done this have entertained angels without realizing it! – Hebrews 13:2, TLB
A Key Aspect of the Christian Life
For the Jesus girl, she will seek after God – through prayer, His Word (the Bible), and by being an active part of God’s Church. Hospitality is the outpour of an intimate relationship with Jesus and being a daughter of the King.
This is an area, where many of us can grow. In our own lives, we probably don’t experience as much hospitality as God designed for us to. Our world is technology filled, and we have to make a deliberate effort to invite someone over or seek ways to deepen a relationship.
Hospitality is a worthy goal for Christian women who want to love God and influence other women in their walk with our Lord Jesus Christ.
The Way We Love – Impacts Lives!
As we put our trust in Jesus Christ, God will show us how to love Him and people. As we expand in our love for God, it will spread over to how we love people.
Demonstrating a honest love for people is how we will impact many lives. People take notice, when we seek out ways to love them.
Obeying God’s Commands
Contribute to the needs of God’s people [sharing in the necessities of the saints]; pursue the practice of hospitality (Romans 12:13; AMPC).
In Romans 12:9-21, we are given a “blueprint” for how to live the Christian life. We aren’t left to guess on how to please a holy God. As we answer the call of following Jesus Christ, God wants to show us how to live the Christian life.
My Story –
In my own life, I have had to develop a willingness for hospitality – because it’s not my area. Yet, God calls me to obey His written word regarding loving others. It is through the Holy Spirit that I am learning to love others.
The Holy Spirit is God’s precious gift to His children who are following Jesus Christ. And, it is how God goes with me and equips me. I know I am pleasing to God based on Jesus Christ, but obeying God is what I am called to do. And so, I am trying to be honest with God about the struggle and obediently follow Him.
