One reason I prefer their books over others, is the combination of beautiful pictures and the stories that draw children closer to the truth we find in the Bible.
This is the fourth book I have been able to read and enjoy from these ladies.
God Gave Us Sleep points our children to biblical truth.
While it doesn’t use specific Scriptures, it highlights God as our Maker. Even though we have times where we don’t want to rest, God still has given us this need. We have to rest. This book opens the door to teach our children this important truth early on.
Rest is important for everyone. It is a key component of how God has designed us.
God Gave Us Sleep teaches the importance of sleep. It helps us to teach our children with concrete examples of why they need rest. We don’t have to leave our answers as “because I said so,” with the help of this book. Not only are children taught rest’s importance, they also get the joy of learning each thing in their lives has a season. They can’t play all the time. We can’t work all the time. We need to have a daily rhythm that includes rest.
If I had to choose a favorite part of this story, it would be the fact that Little Cub realized her irritation with others – because she hadn’t gotten a good night’s sleep. It is such a good example to see that we will find ourselves lacking if we try and skip resting.
