Welcome to this week’s edition of Friday Minute Friday! This week’s theme is “ten”. To learn more about Five Minute Friday, please visit Kate’s blog for more details…
I have been thinking about my upcoming birthday. It’s not as big as say “30”, but it is significant. To me, anyway. The big 2-8.
- I was on the verge of turning 18!
- I was about to finish my last semester of high school.
That girl seems like she went far away. Far away.
God has grown me significantly in the past 10 years. He has proven to me His sovereignty. He is able of governing my life, and leading me on each path I find myself.
I have grown in many areas, but the most noteworthy is in seeking Christ. While I sought Christ 10 years ago, it doesn’t compare to today’s trend of how I seek Him. And hopefully, I will continue to seek Him even more as the days continue to build onto each other and expand into months or years even.
I wanted to share a Scripture memorization tool I discovered this week. It’s called Verse Rain. Haven’t heard of it? I know, I hadn’t either. Picture this: memorizing scripture in the form of a game app that you want and love to play. This is what we get with Verse Rain. I love this game. It is fun, plus spiritually fulfilling and gets the Word of God inside of me.
Scripture memorization is needed to thrive in our lives. But, we can struggle in this area.
In the last 10 years, this area has been a struggle of mine. It often has been. As I reflect on this past decade of victories, defeats, seeking Christ, running from Christ, and learning what it means to live life, I need to be deliberate in making sure that I make hiding God’s Word in my heart as an important part of my life.
I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you (Psalm 119:11, ESV).
Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful (Joshua 1:8, NIV).
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God (Colossians 3:16, ESV).
This app gives me the opportunity to get excited about the Word of God, hear and focus on it, actually memorize it, and consider its importance for my life and various situations. It amazes me that I have not found an app (or website) like this before, or thought to look for one.
On their website, you can play also. No sign in required (only it doesn’t work well with google chrome, so you will want to use something like Internet Explorer or Firefox).
For those interested: I have composed a verse set for Verse Rain to help me to memorize scriptures used in Grace Leads. It is a set of 50 scriptures (all came from the Bible study, Grace Leads) that will help us to live out 2 Timothy 3:16-17 for our lives.
All of Scripture is God-breathed; in its inspired voice, we hear useful teaching, rebuke, correction, instruction, and training for a life that is right so that God’s people may be up to the task ahead and have all they need to accomplish every good work (VOICE).
Feel free to check out the Verse Rain and the “Grace Leads” verse set, by clicking here.
Please note: This review and support of Verse Rain was not motivated by anyone other than the Holy Spirit’s leading. It is my own honest opinion.
