Bethany Hamilton survived a shark attack when she was 13 years old, but it did not stop her from living out her passion: to become a pro-surfer. She has continued to live out her passion, showing herself to be a person of faith, endurance, and someone who does not give up- even when the world is crumbling down around her. She has a powerful testimony that should be proclaimed to the world! God is working greatly in her life, and I love learning about her walk with Christ through this book.
In this book Body and Soul, Bethany uses her platform to encourage young girls. Through this book, she encourages girls everywhere to think about their health and fitness. I love Bethany- she is fun, honest, and real! Reading her book has made me admire her even more. Bethany has a bigger goal than to helping girls to get fit . It’s about the full picture, not just the corner of it. I love it when she says:
“Beyond physical exercise and healthy eating, I am here to encourage and remind you that strengthening your relationship with God is more important than anything else in this book”.
In her latest book Body and Soul, she desires to help girls in their journey. Our journey (regardless of our age) does not stop with our physical health (exercising and eating right), it must begin with our relationship with Jesus Christ! It’s through Jesus we do all these things, relying not on our own strength, but relying fully on God!
This book is geared toward girls of the ages of 11 and 14. It is appropriately designated for this age group, but I would think others could take pieces of insight and apply it to their lives. Bethany explains things well and uses things that young girls can identify with. Bethany is hip, understanding, and a great role model for young girls. This is a terrific book!
In the book, Bethany hits on certain key points:
- Teaching about “clean” eating, which is important for young girls to know more about.
- Recipes (filled with beautiful pictures) to help them to know what to eat.
- Includes: A few different work-out routines to help young girls to know how to get started in exercising.
- Final section, she provides a week long “plan” to help her readers in their eating and exercise. The first week can be really challenging, but she provides helpful aids.
BookLook has given me a free copy of this book, in exchange for a honest review. I am so thankful for this chance to receive free books, and just have to write to review on my thoughts of the book of my choice.
