Nick Vujicic is a man who has faced unbelievable limitation, as he was born with no arms or legs. Still, he is one who continues to have a smile on his face and encourage others with his inspirational messages. Unstoppable is Nick’s second book to date. In this book, he encourages others to put their faith and pursue unstoppable living.
When I got the email stating that Nick’s book was up for review, I was ecstatic. I couldn’t wait to review the book, and be encouraged by Nick’s journey. I couldn’t wait to be uplifted, as I went through my own set of circumstances. The experience I have had with this book was not what I predicted. I predicted to be greatly encouraged, and directed closer to God in the midst. I had great difficulty getting into the book. I tried a few times to get into the book, and couldn’t get into it. I had a lot of trouble connecting with this book on a personal level. Nick lacked humility in this book. It was often about what he had done and how he could be a miracle to someone else. In these parts, it doesn’t show how God is moving and using Him. When we take credit for what God is doing, we are essentially stealing His glory. God will not share His glory with another! I wish there was “meat” to benefit my walk with Christ in this book. He discusses a lot of others’ stories, as they face illnesses and other trials. I truly wanted to like this book. I wanted to enjoy it, and be encouraged by it.
If you want a book to know Nick better and read his wisdom and advice on different subjects, you may enjoy it. In this book, Nick talks about a number of topics. The stories shared are encouraging and inspiring. I wish he wrote more specific about the kind of faith put into action. There are others things that could have made this a more enjoyable book. In conclusion, I give it three stars. There are small portions in this book that I have enjoyed–particular stories of others’ lives that I have found encouraging. I would not be able to read it cover to cover.
“I received this book for free from Blogging for Books in exchange for a honest review.”
